Mirrors and complex reflections are the subjects of Madeline Gallucci’s paintings, sculptures, and installation work. The reflective surfaces explore the relationship between the self and society as we journey to become our most authentic selves. Inspired by historic melodrama and contemporary beauty tutorials, Gallucci is interested in the way characters interact with mirrors as well as how beauty influencers use makeup to subvert classic beauty rituals.

𝗪𝗵𝗮𝘁 𝘄𝗲 𝗹𝗼𝘃𝗲 • For Gallucci, color is intuitive. Her approach creates palettes full of harmony or dissonance. Her work transmits energies ranging from seductive to repulsive depending on the color combination. Creating an immersive space through her work, Gallucci enjoys taking over spaces to create a deeper relationship between the viewer and her piece.

“My studio is full of pleasure — a frenzy of paintings, sculptures, and mirrors are in constant rearrangement. I am attracted to this accumulation of material as composition, whether that is through mark-making, surface treatment, or objects in my installations.” — Madeline Gallucci for Latitude Chicago

Madeline Gallucci has received awards and has held residencies nationally. Her latest project, RADAR, explores the intersection of being both an artist and curator in midwestern communities.
